So the end of eighth grade was creeping up, Foothill or Buena? I always wanted to attend Foothill since I could remember. It was my dream school, but middle school changed my mind. I didn’t want to attend Foothill anymore as much as I did with Buena. I did not want to leave all my closest friends behind and have to start all over. So, I and my parents talked about all the pros and cons for a long time. We had small arguments about it all over the time before deciding what I wanted to do. In the end, I decided to apply to Foothill and if I did not like it I could switch to Buena my sophomore year.
It all started with an application to Foothill. Should I apply or just not go to my dream school because I didn’t want to lose my friends? Personally, I didn’t know if I wanted to go to Foothill. My father, consular, and older brother were always telling me it’s the school for you. That it would be perfect for me. My mom would just let do what I felt was best for me. The bad thoughts always came to my mind while making this decision; I’m going to lose all my friends, I’m not going to have anyone at Foothill. But these thoughts were over powered by good ones. I would always think/ be told by different people “If you go to Foothill you will get further in life!” or “It’s one of the best schools! It has the best education for you!” Also, thinking about how education is more important than friends that come and go just like the wind. With all these thoughts roaming in my mind I decided to apply to Foothill. Close to the end of that school year I was waiting on my letter. After being inpatient I surprisingly got a response from foothill that I was one of the 275 kids that got in!
I was so excited that I got in. But over summer I forgot all about going to Foothill and not Buena. Then all of a sudden orientation was finally here. I was so scared to go. I was dreading to get out of bed that day. It was long, scary, new, but most of all fun day. We got to meet our FIRE mentors Norint and Sandra, same with our FIRE classmates. This made it easier when it came to the first day. I’m not saying, the first day of High School was easy. Far from that! I was nervous, and scared that I’m going to get lost/ confused because of the block schedule. And overall it was a new school, with new people. I was especially scared because I really had no friends here at Foothill. At the end of the day I was satisfied with how my day went. It was long, but it was interesting and cool. And the best thing that happen that day, was I made some new friends.
Six weeks into being a freshmen at Foothill and I regret nothing. Nothing at all. I’m really happy at my choice I made because I like all my teachers and I just really like the environment here. I’ve made some new friends already which is way cool. They are all so nice, fun to hang out with. I’m glad I picked this school because I can already tell that the teachers are great and want us to succeed in life. With them pushing us to be our best, they push us to our best ability which I really like. The only bad thing I would have to say is ALL the homework the teachers assign! But hey that’s school right? I enjoy all my classes, and have so much fun here at Foothill.
All in all this is how I got into Foothill and I’m very glad I made this choice to come here. I’m glad I came home one day after school towards the ending of eighth grade and seeing my acceptance letter to Foothill. I will challenge myself to do my best with the help of my amazing teachers. At the end of each day I’m happy to call myself a Foothill Dragon.
